Fixed a memory bug that could cause sporadic crashes. I think this bug was introduced in version 2.3.
A few more Mac OS 8 special folder icons are handled, such as Mac OS Read Me Files.
2.3 changes:
Fixed a bug in the display of custom icons for folders in Mac OS 8.
Cosmetic changes in the control panel for Mac OS 8.
The shareware nag message now says how long Dialog View has been used (well, really, how long since the Dialog View Preferences file was created.)
Fixed a conflict with Internet Explorer 3.0.1. if you chose large, tiny, or no icons, files in IE’s Open File dialog failed to highlight when clicked.
2.2.2 changes:
A number of programming changes were necessary to make the Japanese localized version work well with the Japanese Language Kit.
Fixed a bug which prevented a newly-installed Dialog View from being registered.
Some settings are maintained in RAM as well as in the preferences file. It is possible for these two copies to be unequal, for instance if you delete the preferences file. In such a case, the control panel will now warn you that any changes will not take effect until you restart the Mac.
2.2.1 changes:
Modified the stretching algorithm to fix a cosmetic glitch in Publish and Subscribe dialogs. (It is possible that this change might cause some other dialogs to look worse.)
Improved compatibility with Aaron: Previously Dialog View did not use Aaron’s folder icons when displaying the contents of the System Folder and its parent.
Fattened another trap patch.
2.2 changes:
Added the new feature of controlling the font of the editable text field.
Fixed a conflict with Aaron that made it hard to use the Dialog View control panel.
2.1.8 changes:
Fixed a conflict with Aladdin Desktop Tools. The symptom was that in certain cases, selecting Desktop Shortcut’s New Folder command caused a crash.
2.1.7 changes:
Fixed a bug in the control panel that caused the font popup to fail sporadically.
2.1.6 changes:
Fixed a bug that caused colorization to fail if stretching was turned off.
Documented a need for Dialog View to load before Default Folder or Desktop Shortcut.
Changed my address in the Direct Registration form.
2.1.5 changes:
Fixed a conflict with MasterJuggler. The “Enable color and grays” option caused subsidiary dialogs of the MasterJuggler dialog to appear partly offscreen. Now I am more careful to make “Enable color and grays” affect only the main Open/Save dialog.
If you hold the option key when selecting “New preference set...” you will now be able to select any file, rather than only applications and desk accessories. This is rarely needed, but could be used to create a custom setting for MasterJuggler.
2.1.4 changes:
Fixed a bug that caused stretching to fail under certain specific conditions. One reason this bug went undetected for a long time is that it was masked by other extensions such as OtherMenu or Super Boomerang.
Updated the docs to reflect the fact that I expect my address to change soon.
2.1.3 changes:
Fixed a conflict with Aladdin Desktop Tools.
CodeWarrior 5.5 fixed the conflict with Dialog View, so I removed the default preference for the Metrowerks compilers. This change only affects newly created preference files, not the existing preference files of those who are upgrading.
The online documentation dialog was sometimes failing to display its gray background picture.
2.1.2 changes:
RAM disks will now be interpreted as folders for purposes of bolding.
Fixed a bug that caused stretching to fail in certain circumstances.
2.1.1 changes:
Under System 7.5, shared libraries were appearing without any icon, because the icon that System 7.1.2 had for them is missing from 7.5. Now they at least show generic document icons.
Files of type 'thng' were showing the wrong icon.
Fixed a cosmetic problem of extra drawing when used with Super Boomerang 5.0.
A subtle color change has been made in Dialog View’s icon.
2.1 changes:
Added option of no icons. (I wouldn’t use it, but a couple of people asked for it.)
Fixed a bug concerning line heights in the list box, which only occurred when you selected medium+custom icons, system font, size 0.
Added preferences to disable stretching in Excel and MoviePlayer, and to disable vertical stretching in DeskScan and Metrowerks C. These will only come into play in a newly-created preferences file, they will not be added to an existing Dialog View Preferences file.
2.0.1 changes:
Provide icons for “mover” type files, e.g. fonts and sounds.
Fixed a conflict with Central Point TrashBack.
Made CD-ROMs count as folders with respect to the “bold folders” option.
Provide icons for shared libraries.
Updated the documentation to mention that certain critical routines are accelerated for PowerPC, although that was already true in version 2.0.
